The nest was destroyed before they were able to mature and fly, I suspect the cat, Charlie, was the culprit. This also reminded me of a previous question about the settings for backyard birds as opposed to eagles. I use the same but the smaller birds are so hard to track with a long lens. Today I was reminded of this Northern Mockingbird series I shot at a friends house back in July 2011. I met a biologist at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge a few years ago who talked about sitting on his porch around 2:00 or 3:00 AM on a sleepless night and counted no less than 22 or 23 different calls (bird imitations) from one Northern Mockingbird.
